"In late January 2004, I flew from St. Louis, Missouri to Oahu, Hawaii to visit my mother to discuss moving her back to the mainland where our family could more easily take an active role in her care.  My mother is 87, and for the past several years she had been gradually slipping with respect to both her mental and physical capabilities...One day after arriving on Oahu to visit her, she fainted and was admitted to the hospital.  This is where I first encountered Dr. Frank A. Williams...He stayed and talked to us for over an hour, explaining carefully to us what he thought her medical problems might be and thoroughly going over tests that he felt would be necessary to provide us with a complete picture of her condition and needs.  It was like doctors used to be, before time constraints drove most of them to the impersonal in and out approach we so often encounter today.  He was interested in my mother’s health and it showed.
Throughout the next week, he kept us completely informed as to her condition, the results of the tests and the development of a plan he thought would best benefit her.  He was easily reachable, always had time to answer my questions and made sure we knew at every turn of the process what he was thinking and doing…While our mother was released from the hospital after a week long stay, it took our family almost a month to find a suitable assisted living facility and to arrange to come back to Hawaii and bring her home.  During that time Dr. Williams continued to monitor her health, kept us abreast of her condition, visited her personally, and put together a case file that her current treating physician stated was the most thorough and thoughtful he had ever seen.  Our mother is back on the mainland now, enjoying her family and her new home.  The impact of the care plan developed by Dr. Williams had already had noticeable positive effects on her mobility, her alertness and her overall well being.  I cannot thank him enough for his efforts and I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone needing a caring physician.  Obviously, his patients are important to him, just as they are important to those of us who love them.”

Lord, make a channel of Thy peace that, where there is hatred, I may bring love; that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness; that, where there is discord, I may bring harmony; that, where there is error, I may bring truth; that, where there is doubt, I may bring faith; that, where there is despair, I may bring hope; that, where there are shadows, I may bring light; that, where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted, to understand than to be understood; to love than to be loved; for it is by forgetting self that one finds; it is forgiving that one is forgiven...
